The Election Is Coming. What Happens Next?

We're just weeks out from Election Day, and if you're like most of the organizations we work with, that means everything else is on hold. Strategic priorities have quietly slid to "next year's problem." Planning conversations keep getting pushed. Your team is running on the kind of adrenaline that gets you to the finish line.

And then the election happens, and the finish line disappears. There's no more sprint to run - just a strange, disorienting quiet where people are simultaneously exhausted and unsure what to do with themselves.

This is the moment we think gets skipped too often, and it's a great opportunity to do some important transitional work.

WHY THIS “IN-BETWEEN” MOMENT MATTERS

Teams that come out of a major push and try to pivot back to "business as usual" rarely land well. There are likely some major lessons learned from the election process, and you don't want to lose those, you also want to give everyone a chance to collectively process what people just went through.

There's a real cost to skipping over this moment. People carry unprocessed exhaustion into the next thing. Assumptions that they no longer hold go unexamined. Worst of all, the organization loses the chance to consciously choose what matters most going into the next season.

The DevelopWell approach is to give people space to decompress and reflect first. Then, any planning that follows is likely to be sharper, faster, and more honest.

THREE WAYS DEVELOPWELL CAN HELP YOU MOVE THROUGH THE TRANSITION

Here are a few things we've seen resonate with teams heading into year-end and Q1 of 2027. All of them have one thing in common: They require you to look back before you can move forward.

  • Structured debriefs, done for you

No more chasing people down for valuable info.

There's a lot to unpack after a stretch like this, and most teams don't debrief well on their own - either it doesn't happen, or it only happens with a small group. Why not hand it off to us?

We run a short series of debriefs across your different teams, typically virtual and low-lift on your end, and pull it all together into a single report. You walk away knowing what worked, what didn't, and where that leaves you now.

  • End-of-year planning sprints

Wind 2026 down well, and ramp 2027 up in kind.

So much momentum gets lost in the gap between "We're finally done!" in December and "Okay, now what?!" in January. We help you maximize that window, building out an org development or People Ops roadmap so your team starts 2027 with real direction instead of scrambling to catch up.

  • Leadership advising containers

Not a full 360, but full of strategic value.

Not a full 360 and not a big assessment - just short-term, dedicated thought-partnership for your leaders. Each leader gets space to bring their own brain dump of ideas, constraints, and challenges, and work through it with us. We help organize it into something actionable, so you walk into collective planning conversations with far more clarity and thoughtfulness already in hand.

“The DevelopWell team’s competence and responsiveness have instilled a great deal of confidence in our directors and teams. Their collaborative and efficient approach has proven to be an excellent match for our needs, and we wholeheartedly recommend their services.”

HOW TO KNOW IF NOW’S THE RIGHT TIME

A few signs that partnering with us could be useful right now:

  • - Your team just came out of a major push and hasn't had real space (or time) to process it.

  • - 2026 feels like it's disappearing into the abyss, with no real plan for January.

  • - Your leaders are each holding a lot right now and could use a thought partner before walking into collective planning.

  • - You want this window to be a genuine reset, not just a quieter version of business as usual.

The election will be over soon. What you do with the months after it is still very much up to you. Reach out if any of this resonates, as we'd love to help you put this moment to good use.
